Describe the culture of theScore in one word.
In one word, I would describe the culture as exciting. There has never been a day where I woke up and dread coming into work. The people are fantastic and supportive. There is lots going on and opportunity to create and expand. Through ups and down, we’re all a team, have fun together, and have each others backs.
What qualities does a person need to work at theScore?
You definitely have to be willing to work hard and be social. There are a lot of fun, talented people in the office, and you have to be eager to learn new things. It is important to always be learning, adapting and exploring new perspectives and options to make sure the product and team are moving forward.
Do you follow any particular sports/esports/teams?
I follow the Toronto Raptors and the NBA in general. I also follow the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays because I love following and being a part of Toronto sports culture.
What are your favorite apps other than theScore?
Uber, Instagram, Crossword Puzzle apps, Snapchat.
Name somebody, dead or alive, you’d want to meet and why?
I want to meet Mike Tyson. I find him so intriguing and misunderstood. He learned to box to protect himself from bullies, which is originally endearing. Everyone knows him as a famous, violent boxer, but he’s opened up many different career paths for himself outside of fighting. He seems to be an interesting guy with a lot to say. I’d also like to meet one of my favorite comedians, Norm Macdonald, for laughs.
And I’d like to meet Dr. Seuss. I think he’s a genius.
Why do you think theScore has become one of the most popular sports apps in North America?
It’s easy to use, customizable and has a ton of features. Anything you might want to know about your favorite teams, whether that be player matchups, breaking news, or stats, you can easily find on the app. There’s a nice range of content that both hardcore and general sports fans can enjoy, which I think is a hard thing to do to be able to satisfy. I’d say theScore is synonymous with sports culture today!
