– Mobile-first game available throughout the United States and Canada, offers cash contests with zero entry fees

TORONTO, December 10, 2015 – theScore, Inc. (TSX Venture: SCR) (“theScore”), a leader in creating mobile sports experiences, today launched QuickDraft, a new fantasy game built for all sports fans that offers daily contests with real cash prizes and zero entry fees.

QuickDraft is a mobile-first game that allows users to quickly draft line-ups of five athletes and compete for a variety of cash prizes. It is completely free-to-play with every public contest guaranteed to run.

To ensure gameplay is fun and accessible to all sports fans, entries are limited to one-per-contest, and the use of ‘scripts’ – computer algorithms that allows players to automate line-up edits – is completely prohibited.

“We wanted to provide a fantasy game that was accessible to all sports fans,” said John Levy, Founder and CEO of theScore.

“Fantasy sports has lost its way by allowing gameplay that caters to professionals instead of sports fans. We think this makes for a poor experience. QuickDraft provides a mobile-first and quick fantasy experience, with exclusive free-to-play cash contests that allows us to introduce this unique and fun game to as many sports fans as possible throughout the United States and Canada.”

At launch, QuickDraft offers contests for NFL Football, with support for other major leagues coming soon. QuickDraft’s lobby includes both public and private contests. All public contests are free to enter and guaranteed to run, offering prize pools of tens of thousands of dollars a week. QuickDraft’s private contests are also free to enter and allow friends to challenge each other in fun and casual matches for bragging rights.

As part of this launch, theScore has also significantly enhanced its fantasy sports coverage on its leading mobile sports app, creating a news river entirely devoted to the latest injury and selection updates, providing QuickDraft players with an invaluable resource when drafting line-ups.

Play QuickDraft now by downloading from the App Store (in North America-only) or by visiting www.quickdraft.co.

theScore has updated its iOS app to include a new feature called Player Alerts, where users can receive push notifications when a particular player from the NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL scores a goal, makes an assist or receives a penalty. The latter two leagues will be later added this summer and fall. Other alert options include vital player news such as injuries.

Below is an example of what a Player Alert will look like on your lock screen:

Jonathan Savage, VP of Product at theScore said “For fantasy sports fans this feature is a real game-changer,” and also “theScore has always been the perfect app for the sports fan on-the-go and now – with Player Alerts – weddings, dinner dates or business meetings will never get in the way of tracking your fantasy sports team.”

Player Alerts for Android will come later this fall. Other features part of today’s update include better social sharing, deeper league stats when in landscape view, improved alerts management including the addition of “Default Alerts” and the inclusion of a new on-boarding tutorial to teach users how to follow their favourite teams.

theScore tells us their app is being used by more than 4.2 million active mobile users per month and this update makes it the first major sports app to offer Player Alerts.

If you’re a fantasy sports freak, this new feature is going to change your life–for the better or worse. Back in late April, theScore secured $16 million in private placement financing.

It’s always an exciting moment for us when a new app update for theScore goes live. But it’s particularly thrilling when we’re able to announce a new feature that so many of our users have been craving.

We’re very lucky that we get to chat to sports fans every single day – whether that be on Twitter, Facebook or through feedback – and one of the most popular requests we receive is for Player Alerts, allowing fans to track individual player performances.
